Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, May 19, at 10 am, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will provide a special program for Kids to Parks Day. Children third grade and above are invited to join a ranger for an activity-guided 1.5 mile hike. Families will meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center and caravan to the trailhead. At 12 pm, following the hike, all children are invited to join the ranger for a bring-your-own picnic lunch.
Kids to Parks Day – celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May – is a national day of play that connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks. It is an opportunity to cultivate future generations of outdoor enthusiasts and conservationists. Bringing families and kids of all ages outdoors to their parks, Kids to Parks Day instills the value and appreciation of our public lands creating the next generation of park stewards.
Please remember to dress appropriately for weather conditions, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a bottle of water.
