Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, May 11, at 10 am, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a special 1-hour ranger-led hike that will explore the action along Forrest Road and will discuss the role of Huwald, Huggins, and Morton’s Confederate Batteries on September 20, 1863.

This discussion will focus on the gunners’ attempts to impede the advance of Union General Gordon Granger’s Reserve Corps to the crest of Horseshoe Ridge. Participants will park/gather at Tour Stop 2 and take the 0.6-mile hike to the Tennessee Artillery Monument.

Comfortable footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, and water are recommended. Participants are welcome to bring folding chairs.
