Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, June 8, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will conduct artillery programs at Point Park on Lookout Mountain.  Demonstrations, each lasting approximately 30 minutes, are scheduled at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm. Admission to Point Park is $7 per adult, ages 16 and over, youth, ages 15 and under, are free.

In October 1863, the men of Parker’s Virginia Battery were camped inside present-day Point Park, on Lookout Mountain. Throughout the month, they traded fire with Union batteries on Moccasin Bend and observed the Battle of Wauhatchie in Lookout Valley.  All the while, the artillerymen looked to the mountains, visible to the north and east, as visible reminders of the peaks from back home in Virginia. Join us at Point Park as we explore the experiences of Parker’s Virginians who lived and fought here in the fall of 1863.
