Fort Oglethorpe, GA:  On November 2, 2022, at approximately 6 pm, individuals illegally shot an 8-point white-tailed deer in Chickamauga Battlefield from the intersection of Alexander Bridge Road and Brotherton Road.  An eyewitness reported the incident and provided limited information.

Hunting and trapping are national pastimes and have been since Native Americans migrated to the region’s mountains and valleys. Every year, many enthusiasts venture onto private and public lands to hunt small and big game.  However, not all public land is open to hunting and trapping, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park being one that is CLOSED to these activities.

The National Park Service is offering a financial reward to individuals who come forward with information that can be used to arrest and successfully prosecute those involved in this federal resource crime.

If you have any such information that may lead to a conviction, please contact Park Ranger
Justin Young at 706-866-9241, ext. 142.
