Seasonal Closure of State Route 148 Opens Snowmobile Access Through Cedar Breaks National Monument

News Release Date: January 2, 2026

CEDAR CITY, Utah — State Route 148 through Cedar Breaks National Monument is now closed for its routine winter season due to sufficient snowpack. This closure is a normal annual operation.
Snowmobile use is permitted only on the designated snowmobile route, which follows State Route 148 and is marked with orange snow poles. Travel outside of the marked route is prohibited to protect sensitive meadowlands beneath the snow.
All facilities remain closed for the winter. Visitors should be prepared for winter conditions and limited services. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the Cedar Breaks website.
