Catoctin Mountain Park Announces Temporary Closures

THURMONT, Md. – Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective 3:30 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019. Closures are scheduled to continue through approximately noon on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Park Central Road will be closed between the Thurmont Vista Parking Lot and Camp Greentop entrance. Reservations for Poplar Grove, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop and Camp Round Meadow will be honored. Chestnut Picnic Area will remain open.

Hikers may access trails to Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock, and Chimney Rock as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock or visitor center trailheads. The Catoctin National Recreation Trail will remain open. Manahan Road and trails on the west side of the park will be available for use. Trails to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock will not be available during this closure.
