THURMONT, Md. – The National Park Service will close part of Foxville Deerfield Road from August 12 through August 16 between 7 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to complete emergency road repairs. The closure will be in place between Owens Creek Picnic Area and Owens Creek Campground. The picnic area will remain accessible from the west, and the campground will remain accessible from the east; however, the road will be closed to through traffic during the repairs. Motorists may use Manahan Road (a road parallel to Foxville Deerfield Road) as a detour. A map showing park roads is available at https://www.nps.gov/cato/planyourvisit/maps.htm.
These closures are necessary following damage to the road shoulder caused by recent heavy rainfall.
If you have questions about the work, please call the Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center at (301)663-9388.
