Catoctin Mountain Park Announces Temporary Closures June 22 - June 23, 2019

News Release Date: June 22, 2019 Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective 7 a.m., Saturday, June 22. Closures are scheduled to continue through Sunday, June 23, 2019 at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Park Central Road will be closed between the Thurmont Vista Parking Area and Camp Greentop entrances. Reservations for Poplar Grove, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop and Camp Round Meadow will be honored. Chestnut Picnic Area will remain open.

Hikers may access trails to Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock, and Chimney Rock as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the Visitor Center Trailheads. The Catoctin National Recreation Trail will remain open. Trails to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock will not be available during this closure. Manahan Road and trails east of Manahan Road will be available for use.
