Due to increased security measures, portions of Catoctin Mountain Park will be closed effective 11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1. Closures are scheduled to continue through approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018. During this time, Park Central Road will be closed between the Camp Misty Mount and Camp Greentop entrances, and trails to Blue Ridge Summit Overlook and Hog Rock will not be available. All other roads and trails will remain open.
The visitor center and all other visitor amenities will remain open and available for use. Reservations for Owens Creek Campground, Poplar Grove Group Campground, Camp Misty Mount, Camp Greentop and Camp Round Meadow will be honored. Chestnut and Owens Creek Picnic Areas will remain open.
Hikers can access trails to Thurmont Vista, Wolf Rock, and Chimney Rock, as well as the Falls Nature Trail from the visitor center trailheads. The Catoctin National Recreation Trail will remain open. Manahan Road and trails east of Manahan Road will be available for use.
