Capitol Reef National Park seeks public assistance in locating missing hiker

TORREY, Utah – Capitol Reef National Park is asking for the public’s help locating Richard Discipio, a 77-year-old male who was last seen at the Days Inn in Torrey, Utah, on June 6. 

Discipio may have been hiking in the Chimney Rock area of Capitol Reef National Park between June 6 and June 8. He is 5’8” tall, 155 pounds, and has green eyes. It is unknown what clothing he was wearing.  

A joint search and rescue effort is underway with units from the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Wayne County and Sevier County. 
 
Anyone who saw Discipio, spoke with him, or has any information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-356-8757.
