For Immediate Release:
Titusville—On November 14, Playalinda Beach, Canaveral National Seashore will reopen to the public, with limited parking and beach access. The beach and dune resources were severely impacted by Tropical Storm Imelda, several king tides, and northeaster wind and rain events. Parking areas 8-13 and main road north of Eddy Creek will remain closed to visitation for safety, clean up and resource protection. Walking on the road north of Eddy Creek is prohibited to all visitors. Visitors may access the beach on the beach to parking area 8 only. Seashore management asks that the public abide by all signage and not enter closed areas. These areas are closed for public safety and to preserve what is left of the fragile dune system. There may be large debris and buried hazards in the closed areas along with disturbed wildlife. Please do your part and stay in the open areas of the seashore. No backcountry permits to enter from Playalinda will be issued at this time.
There is a pavement preservation project currently underway in Playalinda and these parking areas may be subject to availability based on the contractor pavement schedule. Open parking areas will be posted at the Playalinda fee entrance station.. For up-to-date information on the seashore visit the park’s Facebook and Instagram page @CanaveralNatlSeashore.
