Starting Tuesday, September 4, the National Park Service Outer Banks Group visitor centers will be open on the fall/winter/spring hour schedule of 9 a.m. top 5 p.m. daily. This includes the visitor centers at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Wright Brothers National Memorial, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore visitor centers at Bodie Island, Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island. These facilities are open year-round. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and closes for the season on October 8. The fee to climb the lighthouse is $7/adult and $3.50 for those under twelve years old or over sixty-two. For safety reasons, it is required that children be at least 42 inches tall to climb. The lighthouse will reopen in April 2008. Eastern National bookstores at all three parks will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. -NPS- |
