Superintendent Dave Hallac announced today that National Park Service (NPS) will begin work next week at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center Day Use Boat Ramps.Murphy Environment &Land Management, LLC, has been contracted to replace the day use boat ramps.The improvement work begins January 26, 2015 and is expected to be completed by May 2015. The concrete boat ramps and finger piers will be replaced and will include one accessible floating dock. Park visitors can expect to see the work accomplished in two phases in order to keep at least two boat ramps open at all times.Work will be accomplished partially by utilizing a barge and partially from landside.The temporary closure of three of the five boat ramps begins next week.Once the work is completed on the first three ramps under construction and reopened, the remaining two boat ramps will be replaced.
