Superintendent Mike Murray announced 2008 training dates are set for the summer season "Beach Ambassador" program. The program’s goal is to increase preventative lifesaving efforts through educational materials and personal contacts with the visiting public to Cape Hatteras National Seashore and village beaches. The program will educate and inform the public of potential hazards associated with beach recreation, in particular rip currents, along with beach and soundside water safety, surf and storm conditions. The park is once again recruiting for a cadre of volunteers from the surrounding communities in Dare County. Training on beach and water safety conditions will be provided on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Nags Head Fire Station.
