John Gaskill, son of the last lighthouse keeper at the Bodie Island Lighthouse will be signing his book, John Gaskill Remembers, at the BodieIslandVisitorCenter on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In his book, Gaskill related many stories of growing up at the lighthouse, such as: extinguishing the flame in the lighthouse lamp, painting the lighthouse by hand, and of the wreck of the schooner Laura Barnes.
Gaskill, now 92, is truly a part of the history of the Bodie Island Lighthouse.
This book signing is sponsored by Eastern National, a cooperating association with the National Park Service at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. -NPS- |
