Superintendent Mike Murray is pleased to announce that Dennis McGinnis, a native of Manteo, was recently selected as the new Facility Manager for the National Park Service (NPS) Outer Banks Group. The Outer Banks Group includes Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial, and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in North Carolina.

McGinnis is currently the Chief of Facility Management at Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania and has over 30 years of experience maintaining and operating national park facilities, roads, and trails. He graduated from Manteo High School and performed with The Lost Colony. McGinnis started his career with the NPS as a lifeguard at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and is a second generation NPS employee.

“Dennis McGinnis is a great fit for this position,” said Superintendent Mike Murray. “I cannot imagine a better person to lead our facility management program at this time. As a native of the Outer Banks, he is coming home to apply his extensive experience and expertise to his home park. We are very excited to have him as our new Facility Manager.”

McGinnis will move to the Outer Banks in early November 2008. “I am really pleased to come full circle and be able to serve in the same position held by my father,” said Dennis McGinnis.
