June not only marks the beginning of summer, it also marks World Oceans Month. Our oceans, which make up approximately 70 percent of the earth, are natural treasures, a source of food and energy, and a foundation for the way of life.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore is celebrating the oceans and its resources by hosting three beach cleanups at various locations from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
- June 21, 2017- Bodie Island, Coquina Beach bathhouse
- June 24, 2017- Hatteras Island, Old Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Site parking lot
- June 28, 2017- Ocracoke Island, Lifeguarded beach parking lot
