The Bodie Island Light Station contains the lighthouse and a visitor center/bookstore. The Bodie Island Light Station does not offer ranger-led programs. The Bodie Island Lighthouse is open for tours the third Friday in April to Columbus Day (in October). There is a fee for climbing the lighthouse-- there is no fee waiver. For school groups not climbing the lighthouse, a visit generally lasts 30 minutes. If your school group climbs the light house, chaperones are required to accompany students for the entire lighthouse climb. Chaperone to student ratios are: 1:10 for elementary and middle school; 1:21 for high school students.
