News Release Date: November 12, 2024

Montebello, VA – On Monday, November 11, 2024, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Blue Ridge Parkway dispatchers received a report of a park visitor in cardiac arrest while hiking on the Humpback Rocks trail.
 
Upon arrival, rangers and local first responders discovered Sharath Jois, age 53, of Mysore, India, receiving CPR from other hikers. Mr. Jois died at the scene.
 
No additional details are available at this time.
