Fatality near Milepost 32 on the Blue Ridge Parkway

(Rockbridge County, VA) – On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Parkway Law Enforcement was notified by Virginia State Police of a motorcycle crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Milepost 32. 

Virginia State Police, local emergency services, and Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources arrived on the scene to find the motorcycle operator, Tyler Willis-Buchanan, 21, from Roanoke, Virginia, deceased.  

A fellow motorcyclist travelling northbound with Willis-Buchanan called emergency services after realizing Willis-Buchanan was no longer following behind and being unable to locate him. Law enforcement located Willis-Buchanan approximately 15 feet down an embankment.
