BLOWING ROCK, NC – On August 15, the National Park Service will reopen over 30 campsites in Loop A of Julian Price Campground, located at milepost 297 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  All reopening sites will be available by reservation through the end of October. First come, first served sites are not available this season. Sites will open for reservations at 9:00 a.m. ET on Monday, August 11, at recreation.gov. The comfort station in Loop A will be available this season; however, the campground shower building is not operable at this time.

Skilled arborist crews from Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, along with Blue Ridge Parkway maintenance staff and volunteers, have worked across the spring and summer to clear debris and manage hazard trees, allowing for this partial opening. Additional loops at Price Campground will remain closed for the 2025 season as work at this location continues, including additional water system repairs and significant, remaining tree and debris removal.

For safety reasons, Parkway managers ask that people continue to be patient and respect remaining closures in other sections of Price Park Campground and elsewhere across the park. Multiple seen and unseen hazards exist in closed areas, and crews and heavy equipment at work make areas unsafe. Price Lake Trail is open; however, visitors should exercise caution on area trails as they may encounter hazards such as tree debris, and washed-out sections or bridges.

Visitors should plan carefully for any trip along the Parkway and consult the park’s website for a wide variety of planning tools. The park’s website provides extensive information, including current road status, multiple regional maps, and other helpful information about the park’s recovery process at go.nps.gov/Helene
