As the holiday season approaches, the National Park Service would like to invite you to your local national park and recreation area. Here’s what you need to know:
Curecanti National Recreation Area
The Elk Creek Visitor Center is closed for renovation, but we have a temporary visitor center set up in the parking lot for your convenience. Information, passport stamping, and rangers are available from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Lake Fork and Elk Creek boat ramps are still open. Inspection station hours are 7 am to 4:30 pm daily. Inspection stations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas eve and Christmas day and New Years Day.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
South Rim Visitor Center hours are 9 am to 4 pm daily. We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Don’t miss the Western National Park Store at the visitor center where there will be a big sale on “Park Friday”, November 27. Mark downs are between 25% and 90% on select items. Great holiday shopping opportunities abound! Park store hours are 9 am to 4 pm daily, may be closed for lunch.
Please remember to help us keep our staff and visitors well. Wash your hands, watch your distance, and wear your mask. Trails may be icy and muddy. Be prepared with your own traction devices and water, as well as extra clothes.
Happiest of Holidays from the staff at Black Canyon and Curecanti!
