Fall has arrived, and with it, changing hours of operations and the closure of some summer services and facilities at both Curecanti National Recreation Area and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
At Curecanti, Stevens Creek boat ramp and Pappy’s restaurant are now closed for the season. Lake Fork Marina closes September 20 and Elk Creek Marina will close on September 30. National Park Service boat ramps at those locations will stay open until ice closes them.
Inspection Station Fall Schedule is as follows:
On September 3rd hours change to 6:30 am to 7:00 pm at Iola, Elk Creek and Lake Fork
Iola closes for the season on October 5.
On November 1st, hours change to 7:00 am to 5:00 pm at Elk Creek and Lake Fork.
Elk Creek Visitor Center is open 8 am to 6 pm daily through September 28. Beginning September 29, hours are 9 am to 5 pm daily through the 18th. Beginning October 19 the Elk Creek Visitor Center will be open 9 am to 5 pm weekdays only.
The last Morrow Point Boat Tour for the season is September 15. Thank you for the great season!
Water systems will be gradually turned off and winterized at campgrounds throughout Curecanti and Black Canyon.
At Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the South Rim Visitor Center is open 8 am to 5 pm daily through October. Hours may change, but we will be open this winter as well.
National Public Lands Day is Saturday, September 28. It is a fee free day at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park – no entrance fees will be charged. The next fee free day is Monday, November 11 – Veterans Day.
