Calling anglers of all ages to join Big Thicket National Preserve on Saturday, June 29th, for a free, family fishing event! Big Thicket National Preserve joins with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to provide Certified Angler Education Instructors to teach basic fishing skills to beginning anglers. The event will start at 10 am and go until 2 pm. Attendees do not need to be there right at the beginning or stay the entire time. 

This event will be held on Village Creek where Highway 327 crosses over the creek. Join the group on the west side of the river and the south side of the highway. There will be signs near the road to direct you. 

Preserve staff will have fishing gear for use, but participants may bring their own if they wish. We ask that attendees bring bug spray, water, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get dirty. No fishing license or pre-registration is required.
