The stud barn and corral once used for the Cedarvale Dude Ranch operation can be seen along the hike into Hillsboro. The log barn abuts a bank on its north elevation. Mangers are also present, where the horses would be stabled. The roof on this structure is made of straw and chicken wire. A pole corral encloses the barnyard. In 1907 Doc Barry formed the Embar Horse Company with a group of partners. During the ensuing years Barry improved his stock as he went to raising English Hackneys. Lee Hoffman, whose wife Rose cooked at the ranch, recalled many years later that the Barry's also had several Morgan stallions. |
