The Devils Garden Loop Road and Trailhead (and all associated trails) in Arches National Park will be temporarily closed on Friday, August 9th for installation of new vault toilets. This trailhead, located at the end of the park's 18-mile main road, is the access point for features such as Landscape Arch, Double O Arch, Dark Angel, and the Primitive Loop Trail.
The road and trailhead closure will be in effect from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. August 9th, and will allow the park to install two new vault toilets using cranes and other heavy equipment.The new toilets will have twice the capacity of the existing ones, reducing overcrowding at the toilets during the busiest times of the year.
Visitors traveling the park road on this day will need to turn around at the Sand Dune Arch Trailhead parking lot.
The Devils Garden Campground will remain open to campers with reservations. This closure is part of a larger construction project to renovate facilities at the Devils Garden Trailhead. Since no water will be available at Devils Garden Trailhead during construction, visitors are strongly encouraged to fill water bottles at the Arches Visitor Center prior to driving up the park road.
