Amache National Historic Site is hosting the Amache Community Archeology Project’s Public Open House on Saturday, July 4th, 2026.

From 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, visitors are welcome to take a tour, learn about site survey, and watch archeologists as they uncover the history of Amache. This year will also include story time at the Amache Recreation Hall with author Jolene Guiterez.

From 1:00 to 4:00 pm, visitors can visit the Amache Museum in Granada to see the new exhibits and collections, and work with objects in the field lab.

“The open house is a great opportunity to learn about the history of America, Japanese Americans, the town of Granada, as well as how people lived and provided for a country that was treating them unfairly,” say Destiny Garcia, Junior Museum Crew Chief for the field school and Amache Preservation Society student.
