Acadia National Park Invites Proposals to Host Ranger-Narrated Boat Cruises

Acadia National Park is requesting proposals for seasonal ranger-narrated boat cruises in the waters around Acadia National Park that will result in safe and quality interpretive experiences for park visitors.

The boat cruises include the Baker Island Cruise, the Coastline Cruise, the Islesford Cruise, and the Marine Life Cruise. All proposals that are consistent and compatible with the purpose and function of interpretation at Acadia National Park are welcome. Any person or organization meeting the specific requirements may participate in the competitive process. Persons interested in submitting proposals may contact the park for complete proposal submission requirements or go to www.nps.gov/acad to download the proposal.

Proposals will be evaluated by a National Park Service panel to assure that prospective boat operators have the experience, equipment, and demonstrated intent to provide the proposed services. Evaluation criteria are set forth in the Request for Proposals, along with historical, interpretive, and logistical data on the tours, and proposal submission requirements. All proposals received within the stated time period will be evaluated by the National Park Service and the proposals considered to best meet the criteria will be selected as the basis for negotiation and establishment of a final Memorandum of Agreement.

The Request for Proposals will be open for thirty (30) days starting February 17, 2012. Proposals will be accepted until 4:30 P.M., Eastern Standard Time, March 19, 2012, at Acadia National Park Headquarters, P.O. Box 177 (Eagle Lake Road), Bar Harbor, Maine, 04609.
