Access to Frijoles Canyon Will Be Limited
Starting June 1, 2012 all access to the most visited part of the park, Frijoles Canyon, will be via a shuttle bus from the nearby community of White Rock. This is to alleviate a parking shortage created by the Las Conchas Fire. More details to follow.
Bandelier Rocks
photo by sally king The San Miguel Mountains on the park's western boundary represent another episode of volcanism in the park's history. There are four main rock types found in Bandelier. Click on each rock type below to find out more about it and what that type of rock was used for by the Ancestral Pueblo people. Some less local rocks were also important. |
