On May 25, 2016 at 6:32pm Washington County Dispatch relayed a 911 call they had received from an individual in Pine Creek Canyon. Washington County advised the park that the reporting party (RP) had come into contact with a group of four canyoneers while descending the Pine Creek drainage and one of them was requesting medical evacuation. The RP advised the subject was a 28 year old male who was awake but very weak, suffering from severe nausea and vomiting and located above the last rappel of the Pine Creek Canyoneering Route.
At approximately 7:00pm Zion Park Dispatch received an update from a member of the subjects party. A group member advised the subject had finished the final rappel of the route and had moved down the Pine Creek Drainage and were approximately 1 mile from the Main Park Road in the Drainage. The group member advised that his friend could no longer walk, was still vomiting and very weak.
At 8:20pm hours two Park Medics arrived at the location of the subject in the Pine Creek Drainage and provided medical treatment. At approximately 9:45pm the Park Medics advised the subject was going to attempt to walk out. At 10:24pm the subject reached the Main Park Road at the Pine Creek Overlook. There he refused transport to hospital by park ambulance and was treated and released.
