Summer Ranger Programs

2026 Programs:

  • Behind the Scenes: A Backstage Tour: Join Ranger Will as we wander into the woods to see and hear what goes into a Theatre-in-the-Woods performance!
  • Sounds of Nature: Join Ranger Andrew to learn about music and the sounds around us in the world.
  • Tree Identification: Join Ranger Anders as we learn to identify specific native trees that grow in Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts by studying their leaves and other structures.
  • Pantomime in the Park: Join Ranger Claire as we explore theatre techniques and 'paint' a picture of our park.
  • Building Your Own Park: Join Ranger Christiana as we learn about the history of Wolf Trap and what makes Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts unique.
  • Backyard Buddies: Bird at Wolf Trap: Join Ranger Remi as we learn the importance of birds and those that call Wolf Trap home.

On select Tuesdays:

  • Wolf Trap Woodland Garden: Join Master Gardeners for a fun and interactive tour of the Wolf Trap Woodland Garden. Native gardening in a natural setting will be explored. The wildlife living in the garden will be identified as the stream is crossed, trails are followed, and wetland is explored by stepping across log steps.

Two different Ranger Programs are offered at 11:45 am and 12:00 pm, Tuesday through Saturday during our Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods season*. Programs meet at the kiosk in the meadow and are about 20 minutes in length. Find the schedule of Ranger Programs at the Footbridge or below. For future dates call (703) 255-1824 to find out which Ranger Programs will be available on the day of your visit. Programs are free and recommended for kids five and older.

*Ranger programs are canceled for rain or if the day has been determined to have "Code Red" Air Quality.
