REPUBLIC, Mo. – At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, a grass fire ignited just past Stop 1 of the Tour Road, between the Ray Cornfield and the Gibson Mill Trail, at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield.

Due to quick responses from park staff and local fire departments, the fire was fully contained by 3:00 p.m.

Just more than four acres of fields were burned. No injuries have been reported and no structures or property were damaged.

At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
