Planning An Educational Field Trip
Educational groups are not only welcome but encouraged to visit Wilson's Creek National Battlefield!
Advance reservations and fee waivers are required for all groups and can be made by contacting the Education Office at (417) 732-2662 ext. 385.
A variety of on-site educational programs are offered to provide opportunity for students to experience firsthand the unique resources available at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. All programs are dependent upon the availability of Volunteer and National Park Service staff.
Home School groups are welcome to bring students to the battlefield, but as with all school groups, must submit a fee waiver application. However, because of limited parking at the tour stops, we ask that groups carpool with no more than 8 cars entering the battlefield at a time.
The tour of the battlefield is self-guided. Special program requests are welcome but dependent upon the availability of volunteer staff. Reservations should be made at least 3 - 4 weeks before the planned visit.
The tour of the battlefield is scheduled. Special programs are provided at various sites around the battlefield. There is a daily limit on how many groups can participate in these programs. Schools are encouraged to contact the park early to reserve a date. Reservations can be made after October 1. You must call the park to make the reservation. Please do not e-mail requests.
Summer school groups are welcome. The tour of the battlefield is self-guided. Special program requests are welcome but dependent upon the availability of volunteer staff. Reservations should be made at least 3 - 4 weeks before the planned visit.
