Walnut Canyon National Monument Celebrates Reptile Awareness Day

 FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA - Walnut Canyon National Monument will celebrate Reptile Awareness Day on Saturday, October 22, 2011. Come learn more about these amazing creatures during the following scheduled events:

"Snakes on Strike", a 45-minute ranger program all about a very important, and often misunderstood creature. Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Walnut Canyon Visitor Center, and

"The Dragon in the Desert"- Despite its unusual appearance the horned lizard is truly a unique creature. This 45-minute ranger program will reveal the wonders of this small and bizarre-looking reptile. Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m at the Walnut Canyon Visitor Center.

Walnut Canyon National Monument is located 7.5 miles east of downtown Flagstaff via I-40 and can be reached at (928)526-3367 and on the web at www.nps.gov/waca. The entrance fee is $5.00/person for visitors 16 and over. America the Beautiful Passes are honored and sold.
