Enjoy your neighborhood National Monuments this Thanksgiving!

Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon, and

Wupatki National Monuments open for visitors

 

FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA - Bring family and friends to Flagstaff's neighborhood National Monuments this week. "All three of the Flagstaff Monuments will be open for our visitors and their families this Thanksgiving Weekend " said Superintendent Diane Chung. "It will be a great time to get out and walk in our monuments with a ranger. All three monuments will be open from 9am to 5pm on Thanksgiving day, and throughout the weekend to serve our local community and their guests." The entrance fee is $5.00 for visitors 16 and over. America the Beautiful Passes are accepted.

 

Join a Park Ranger for one or all of these great walks:

 

Walnut Canyon National Monument- "Rim Trail Discovery Tour"- Thursday, 11/24, 10am; Friday, 11/25, 10am and 1:30pm, Saturday, 11/26, 10am and 1:30pm, and Sunday, 11/27, 10am. "The Pueblos of the Island Trail"- Sunday, 11/27, 1:30pm. All programs start at the Visitor Center. Walnut Canyon NM is located 10 miles east of downtown Flagstaff via I-40 and can be reached at (928)526-3367 and on the web at "www.nps.gov/waca."

 

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument- "Lava Flow Exploration"- Thursday-Sunday, 11/24-11/27, every day at 1:30pm. The walk starts at the Lava Flow Trailhead. Sunset Crater Volcano NM is located six miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89 and can be reached at (928)526-0502 and on the web at "www.nps.gov/sucr."

 

Wupatki National Monument- "Explore Wupatki Pueblo"- Thursday, 11/24, 1:30pm; Friday, 11/25, 10am and 1:30pm; Saturday, 11/26, 10am and 1:30pm. All programs start at the Visitor Center. Wupatki NM is 26 miles north of Flagstaff via Hwy 89, and can be reached at (928)679-2365 and "www.nps.gov/wupa.".
