Flagstaff Area National Monuments Announces Fee Free Day in Honor of Get Outdoors Day with a Cultural Demonstration and Book Signing at Walnut Canyon FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA - Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon and Wupatki National Monuments will be joining national park units across the country in offering fee free entry onSaturday, June 9, 2012, in honor of National Get Outdoors Day. Visitors who arrive to the monuments on National Get Outdoors Day, will be allowed to enter free of charge. Monument visitor centers and entrance stations will have Interagency Senior and Annual Passes available for those who wish to purchase them. The Flagstaff Area National Monuments and Western National Parks Association (WNPA) will host a cultural demonstration and book signing event on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Walnut Canyon National Monument Visitor Center. 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Horace Kayquoptewa Noted Hopi kachina carver from Hotevilla, Horace Kayquoptewa, will be on hand demonstrating carving techniques and offering his kachina dolls for sale. 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Susan Lamb Bean Local Flagstaff author, Susan Lamb Bean, will be signing copies of her books Wildflowers of the Plateau & Canyon Country, Wupatki National Monument, Guide to Pueblo Pottery, Guide to Zuni Fetishes, Guide to Carvings & Navajo Rugs. 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Sylvester Allred Northern Arizona Professor, Sylvester Allred, will be signing copies of his children's book Rascal, the Tassel Eared Squirrel and his latest book for adults The Natural History of Tassel Eared Squirrels WNPA is a non-profit cooperating association that supports interpretive activities at the Flagstaff Area Monuments.
