NPS Last Updated: August 12, 2026 Fire Danger and Burning RestrictionsThere is a parkwide campfire ban in effect. Due to high fire danger and active wildfires across northeast Minnesota, Voyageurs National Park is implementing elevated fire restrictions. The restrictions will remain in effect until rescinded. The following restrictions will be in effect throughout the park: Kabetogama Lake Boat Launch Closure: August 17–21, 2026Due to construction work, the Voyageurs National Park Kabetogama Lake boat launch will be partially closed from Monday, August 17 - Friday, August 21 2026. The north lane of the Kabetogama Lake boat launch will be closed in order to remove and disassemble construction vessels from the lake. The south lane will remain open, but boaters should expect delays and potential wait times. We appreciate visitors’ patience and understanding while this important infrastructure work is underway. Additional partial boat launch closures are expected in October, with exact dates to be announced. This project replaces the aging underwater powerline that provides electricity to the historic Kettle Falls area. Boating Safety Notices for Namakan LakeFrom July - October 2026 on Namakan Lake, crew boats, tugboats, barges and other equipment will be on the lakes working on the Kettle Falls powerline project. Boaters should use caution and follow all safety guidance listed below while traveling near work areas between Moose River and Kettle Falls:
