INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN: On August, 25, 2016 the National Park Service will turn 100, and to celebrate USA Today launched a 10 Best Series of Readers' Choice contests all about the national parks. USA Today teamed with the National Park Foundation to nominate 20 parks, park destinations and park programs in each of the following categories: Best National Park for Kids, Best National Park Landmark, Best National Park Location for Sunrise/Sunset, Best National Park Night Experience, and Best National Park Wildlife Experience.Over the course of four weeks, 10 Best and USA Today readers voted for their favorites in each category. Kabetogama Lake lies within Voyageurs National Park's 218,000 acres and won the #1 spot for the Best National Park Locations for Sunrise/Sunset.Acting Superintendent, Bill Carlson states. "Kabetogama Lake is a spectacular site for sunrises and sunsets, if you haven't had the opportunity to witness this, it's a must see." Voyageurs National Park is the 36th national park in the system and within the park lies 4 major lakes, and 26 interior lakes. Voyageurs is a water-based park where visitors must leave their car behind for a true experience. |
