INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN:This fall, Voyageurs National Park Law Enforcement staff will welcome a group of volunteer students from Vermilion Community College (VCC) to assist in a clean-up along the shores of Rainy Lake. Students will arrive Friday, September 9, 2016 and work through Sunday, September 11, 2016.According to park rangers -- the amount of garbage and debris along Rainy Lake's shore line, especially in Black Bay, from heavy wind conditions and previous flooding years has increased and is noticeable. VCC students will paddle canoes along the park's shoreline in Black Bay all day Saturday, September 10, 2016. Many of the students from VCC participating in this event are currently pursuing degrees in natural resources and have experience on the water. Due to logistics and safety of the project, park staff are not taking on additional participants but if you have questions, contact Ranger Laura McBroom at Laura_McBroom@nps.gov. x2P |
