Contact: Rick Martin, 601-619-2905 Each state that participated in the Campaign and Siege of Vicksburg will be recognized by reading a proclamation or letter from the governor of the state, honoring the Soldiers, Sailors and Marines that fought at Vicksburg 150 years ago. There will also be a wreath placed at the memorial which will stay in place through July 4, 2013, 150 years from the day Vicksburg surrendered. A special sign will also be located at each memorial with information about the units that fought during the campaign. A short ceremony will take place at 10:00 AM at the following respective monuments. The wreaths are being provided by the Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park and Campaign.
Admission to the Vicksburg National Military Park is $8.00 per personal vehicle, and all applicable Vicksburg and National Park Service annual passes are accepted. The park is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and information regarding entrance fees or programs can be found on the park's website at www.nps.gov/vickor calling 601-636-0583.
