The staff at Vicksburg National Military Park invites the public to a celebration of National Park Week and Junior Ranger Day 2014. National Park Week is a presidentially proclaimed celebration in recognition of America’s National Parks. National Park Week runs from April 19-27, and this year's theme, "National Park Week: Go Wild!” gives parks an opportunity to showcase what makes them significant, special, or unique. Vicksburg, the turning point of the American Civil War, is certainly all three. The Junior Ranger program encourages America's youth to explore, protect, and learn about our National Parks.
In honor of National Park Week and Junior Ranger Day, Vicksburg National Military Park will hold a Junior Ranger Day Celebration on Saturday, April 26 from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the U.S.S. Cairo Museum in the park. There will be ranger talks, hands-on children’s activities, military drills for the kids, U.S.S. Cairo tours, and Living History weapons demonstrations throughout the day. Admission to the park is $8.00 per vehicle, and all VNMP or Federal Lands pass are accepted. There is no additional charge for Junior Ranger Day activities. We invite you to bring your family out to celebrate this special week by experiencing Your National Park. |
