The first stop in the park is the entrance fee booth. The Visitor Use Assistant (VUA) here will be one of the first park people you will meet when visiting the park. Vicksburg National Military Park charges $8.00 per car to enter, and it is the VUA's job to greet and collect the money from visitors and provide an Official Park Map and Brochure, directions, and answers to general questions.
However, if you are with a school group, the entrance fee is waived (not collected), as educational groups are allowed to tour the park for free. Make sure you stop at the gate, however, so the VUA can log in your group.
