Hyde Park, NY – The National Park Service announced today that the public will be invited to experience all national parks, including the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt NHS, the Eleanor Roosevelt NHS, and Vanderbilt Mansion NHS, without entrance fees, on four days in 2018.

The 2018 entrance fee-free days are:

  • January 15: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • April 21: First Day of National Park Week
  • September 22: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11: Veterans Day

“I invite everyone to take advantage of this great opportunity to visit your local National Parks on these fee free days. Enjoy a day out hiking on one of the more than 18 miles of trails, stroll through 6 different gardens, immerse yourself in history by taking a tour of the FDR Home, Val-Kill Cottage or Vanderbilt Mansion, or enjoy a nice leisurely picnic with your family on lush green lawns,” said Superintendent, Larry Turk.

The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site are open seven days a week from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill) is open Thursdays through Mondays with tour times at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

Normally, the entrance fee to the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site and the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site is $10.00 per person.

The annual $80 America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass allows unlimited entrance to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including all national parks that charge an entrance fee. There are also free or discounted passes available for senior citizens, current members of the military, families of fourth grade students, and disabled citizens.
