Honolulu – The timeline for the USS Arizona Memorial dock replacement, scheduled for June 13 through June 26, has been extended to June 28 due to a construction delay. Normal operations are anticipated to begin on Wednesday, June 29. Until then, visitors will not be able to disembark on the Memorial, but they will be taken on a boat ride to observe the Memorial and an interpretive talk will be provided.

Normal operations will continue at the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park, the Battleship Missouri Memorial, and the Pacific Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor, as well as, the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center's bookstore, snack shop, and museums.

"We are making every effort to resume normal operations," World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument Superintendent Jacqueline Ashwell said. "We are grateful for the public's continued patience and understanding as we finalize installation of this new dock to access the USS Arizona Memorial."

The dock was designed in Hawaii by a local company and constructed in Bellingham, Washington by a vendor accustomed to fabricating docks destined for Hawaiian waters. The dock was transported by truck to a staging area on Ford Island and then floated to the Memorial, where it is being attached using anchor blocks and mooring chains. A series of skid-proof ramps have replaced the combination of steps and ramps that provided access from the dock to the Memorial.
