Operations to Resume at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center

Date: September 12, 2018

Honolulu – Operations are expected to resume at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at 9:00am on Thursday, September 13, following the closure due to Tropical Storm Olivia. Staff will conduct post-storm assessments of the facilities and remove hazards before opening. The below timetable details the planned reopening schedule:

6:00am – All parking lots at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center will open as normal.

7:00am – The Battleship Missouri Memorial will begin operating the Ford Island Shuttle to transport visitors to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites on Ford Island. Visitors are instructed to use the side gate behind the bag storage building to enter and exit the bus stop until full visitor center operations resume. USS Missouri security will screen visitors prior to boarding, according to the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center bag policy.

9:00am – The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, including the museums, snack shop, and bookstore, will open for visitors. The USS Bowfin and its facilities will also open. Visitors with tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial will be able to view the 25-minute film in the theaters, and, weather permitting, board the US Navy boats to view the USS Arizona Memorial and Battleship Row.

This reopening schedule is subject to change if anticipated conditions overnight change or if significant storm-related impacts are discovered during the assessment.

Additionally, the ticketing reservation system via www.recreation.gov is now operating as normal. Visitors will be able to make Thursday reservations immediately.
