Honolulu – In anticipation of Hurricane Lane, World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument will close the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center at 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 22, to allow staff time to prepare for heavy winds and rain. The park will remain closed until further notice.
Additionally, the US Navy has already suspended boat operations. There will be no USS Arizona Memorial programs offered all day long. However, the visitor center, museums, bookstore, and snack shop will be open to the public between the hours of 7:00am and 12:00pm. Following these limited hours, the visitor center and parking lots will be closed, and visitors and vehicles must vacate.
We apologize for the inconvenience of this closure, but it is necessary for visitor, staff, and park protection. We will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
For updates on Hurricane Lane, please go to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Central Pacific Hurricane Center website at www.prh.noaa.gov/cphc/, or the National Weather Service Honolulu’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/NWSHonolulu.
