Goods & Services

Inside the Park

Food, gas, lodging, and similar services are not available at Valles Caldera National Preserve. The Valle Grande Bookstore does offer some snacks and beverages. It is recommended to bring water and food with you into the park, especially for longer visits. See Safety for more information.

The Valle Grande Bookstore offers daily rentals of snowshoes and poles during the winter season. At this time there are no opportunities to rent bicycles or horses within the park.

Outside the Park

  • Medical Services - Call 911 in case of an emergency.
  • Visit our nearby cities page for links and numbers to local chambers of commerce, gas stations, lodging, campgrounds, restaurants, towing.
  • The nearest gas stations can be found in Los Alamos (approx. 20 miles) or Jemez Pueblo (21 miles).

Cell Phone Service

While there is cell service in the Valle Grande area, the rugged and remote terrain of the park means that very few areas have cell coverage. You should not expect to rely on your cell phone for navigation or emergencies.
