This year Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River will celebrate its 30th Anniversary. In 1978, Congress designated a 73.4 mile stretch of the Upper Delaware as the 19th component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. On November 10th of that year, President Jimmy Carter signed the legislation establishing the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River River as part of the National Park System.

Please join us in celebrating our anniversary at the Upper Delaware EXPO on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the Damascus Elementary School, Damascus, PA, PA from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 10:30am which will spot light the history of Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River River over the last 30 years. Other educational programs, including the very popular birds of prey program by the Delaware Valley Raptor Center Valley Raptor Center and a reptiles and amphibians program by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will follow.

Of course, for the past 30 years we have been "Partnering to Protect the River" with our many dedicated partners and friends. Exhibits will showcase the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River River and our partners without whom protecting the valley would be impossible. There will be a photographic exhibition be well known photographer Dave Soete. His photographs depict the rich natural and cultural heritage of the river valley. Participants and winners of the 3oth Anniversary Art Contest will have their artwork on display.

This will be a fun and educational event for young and old alike. Boy Scout Troop #122 will have food for sale throughout the day.
