Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River works closely with dozens of federal, state, and local organizations. Our partners enable the park to not only preserve and protect the Delaware River, but also educate visitors on how to enjoy the resources of the river in ways that are safe and sustainable for everyone.

The organizations highlighted below provide an example of the broad range of partners who work with the park to accomplish its mission.

Delaware Highlands Conservancy

The Delaware Highlands Conservancy is an accredited land trust whose mission is to conserve the natural resources of and around the Upper Delaware River in direct partnership with local landowners and communities. The Delaware Highlands Conservancy accomplishes this through land protection agreements with landowners and outreach to local communities.

Additionally, the Delaware Highlands Conservancy trains and organizes volunteer docents to staff the Lackawaxen River Access for Eagle Watch Weekends in January and February. These volunteers provide visitors with information and "Eagle Ettiquette" tips on hwo to safely and respectfully watch America's national bird.

Delaware and Hudson Transportation Heritage Council

The Delaware and Hudson Transportation Heritage Council is a partnership of multiple public, private, and non-profit organizations supporting the preservation of the historic resources of the Delaware & Hudson Canal and the Delaware & Hudson Gravity Railroad.

National Canoe Safety Patrol

The National Canoe Safety Patrol (NCSP) is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to encourage and promote safe water and paddling practices, assist with river safety training, and assist organizations with river activity rescues. The NCSP and its volunteers work very closely with Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in promoting river safety and in rescue operations on the Upper Delaware River.

Upper Delaware Council

The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) is a partnership of local, state, and federal government agencies working together to manage the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. The Upper Delaware Council plays an important role in bridging the National Park Service with local communities, landowners, and local governments.

Zane Grey's West Society

Zane Grey's West Society is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate, inform, and promote interest in the eminent American author, Zane Grey, and his works through public outreach, education, and the preservation of sites of Zane Grey's writings. Zane Grey was best known for his works in the Western genre of literature, which shaped the general public's view of the "Old West" and American frontier.

Zane Grey's West Society partners with Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River on the interpretion of Zane Grey, whose Lackawaxen home is now a museum run by National Park Service. The annual Zane Grey Festival, held in Lackawaxen, is also organized in partnership with Zane Grey's West Society.
