 The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve, Jacksonville's National Park, will celebrate the 2014 National Park Week with a wonderful range of activities. Throughout the country, visitors can enjoy the beauty and wonder of 84 million acres of the world's most spectacular scenery, historic places, and cultural treasures without paying entrance fees.


 We invite you to come to your local national parks and participate in the free events being held during the week. Each year the President proclaims National Park Week for celebrating and recognizing your National Parks. This year the event takes place from Saturday, April 19 through Sunday, April 27 and the theme is, "Go Wild!" The park will offer a range of activities including Junior Ranger Day on Saturday, April 26. The day will have special events just for kids. Events will be offered free of charge all week long throughout the Timucuan Preserve and include: 

Living history demonstrations of plantation era work will be presented at Kingsley Plantation Monday through Friday at 2:00 p.m. 

A ranger guided nature and history hike at Cedar Point on Saturday April 19th at 1:00 p.m. Call 904.251.3537 for reservations and details. 

An opportunity to earn a Junior Ranger badge and special patch at Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation on Junior Ranger Day, April 26th. 

A Compass Scavenger Hunt at Kingsley Plantation on April 26th, available all day. 

Atlatl (a weapon used by the Timucuan) demonstrations on April 26th at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00p.m. at Fort Caroline. 

The beautiful Timucuan Preserve is located within the Jacksonville area. Come experience salt marshes, open stretches of river, wildlife, miles of trail access, cultural sites, and more.
